Well... We've survived a year. A year of change. A year of confusion. A year of constantly questioning everything. But most of all, it has been a year of new discoveries and pure joy.
Time has flown by over the past year. It seems that not so long ago we were driving ever so slowly home with Cooper for the first time. We've seen him poked and prodded with needles, loopy as he comes out from under anesthesia, and curious and determined as he learns new skills and tricks.
We planned a celebration for Coop's first birthday at the house. Amanda and I both put a lot of time and effort into making sure everything was just right. We had a lot of friends and family come over and Cooper had a great time.
The Dr. Seuss theme was great and Amanda worked very hard to make sure there was enough food and drinks for a small army. Cooper got tons of toys to play with that were, surprisingly, easy to put together.
Going to the Dr for his 1 year appointment wasn't as easy though. Cooper didn't like the shots or any of that stuff, and, in true Cooper fashion, we found out that he had strep.
The doctor also informed us that it was time to take the bottle away and replace it with a sippy cup, as well as push real food.
Turns out Cooper is a picky eater. Now, the baby food he isn't supposed to still eat, he likes that. It's the stuff that looks more like normal food that he doesn't like. We've found out that if it sticks to his fingers, he's NOT going to eat it.
In an effort to help, I decided to go to McDonalds. Now, I know people are thinking, "surely he didn't start that habit," but I had to. Cooper LOVES chicken nuggets and French fries! Hey, who can blame him?
If it works it's better than nothing... right?
